Outfit Post: Monsoon Mudcals

As I sit down to write this post, I feel a sense of calm, having completed a herculean task. Monsoons have officially taken over Mumbai, and while some of the city’s arteries may have come to a gridlock, my need to showcase this outfit certainly couldn’t meet the same fate.

Let me start by introducing you to Naari, a Mumbai-based women’s ethnic wear company. What really sets this brand apart is its new age contemporary style – Naari blends desi elements with coeval styles, giving you that ethnic experience and allowing you to channel the fashionista in you with class and flair. Naari encompasses India’s new-age woman, creating a perfectly unconventional outfit that allows you to express your style loud and proud, yet always staying chic!

The brand’s collections each have a story to tell. The story I’m going to share with you today is that of their “Mudcals” collection. Inspired by the Lippan Kaam of Kutch (mud and mirror work), this collection is a classic blend of village craft and striking abla work (mirror work). The collection’s hallmark is subtlety that exudes traditional style.

Now for what I’m wearing – the Brown Rayon Printed Embroidered Kurti with matching net dupatta and white churidar. The kurti has as beautiful abla embroidery across the front and the back as well as on the sleeves and cuff, reflecting the beauty of the Mudcals, while the center and neck is detailed with silver Gota Patti. This simple and sophisticated outfit is perfect for any occasion and showcases vintage traditionalism in all its glory! I also must commend them on the fabric quality and design, which I think are great.

Festival season isn’t too far away, with Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Navratri, Dussehra, and of course, wedding season all around the corner. Naari’s outfits are perfect for those family gatherings and festivities, allowing you to fulfill your love for timeless ethnic glamour without burning a hole in your pocket.
