I was on the look out for an affordable and effective face powder when I fortunately got the chance to review the ‘Nykaa SKINgenius Skin Perfecting & Hydrating Compact‘. At first glance, I was disappointed to see only 9g of product in such a bulky container, however, it didn’t bother me as much once I tried it on.
As per the description given above, the compact is hydrating, unlike other powders I’ve used in the past and lightweight so there’s no chance of it looking cakey. The powder has a smooth and silky texture that blended well on my dry skin, and instantly brightened it.
I dust some powder all over my face with a fluffy brush after foundation, or I dab it on after applying a layer of moisturiser and primer. I wouldn’t say this is a long-wear compact but honestly, no compact can withstand the humidity in Mumbai. Thanks to the large mirror and makeup sponge, retouching is a breeze.
I chose the shade ‘rose beige’, which would suit a medium to light skin tone, it has a pleasant smell and I didn’t feel any irritation on my skin after applying it. Even though it retails for only INR 525, this product definitely feels high-end.
The packaging is simple, with a matte black finish on its exterior, and it’s functional for those of you who want to carry it on-the-go.
Who I’d recommend this product to:
In my opinion, this product is suitable for people with dry skin who have trouble finding a moisturising powder to set their foundation. This is also useful for those who want a light coverage powder to wear alone or on top of foundation.
I would avoid it if you’re looking for high coverage compact or if you require a product with SPF.
