As you can see from the above kick-ass line up that this year, the music at KGAF will be unique and versatile to say the least. It will feature legends like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan but also upcoming independent musicians. Young Bollywood singers and established veteran jazz musicians all on the same platform . I am super pumped to attend all the shows this season but honestly there are 5 artists who I cannot, under any circumstances effort to miss, So the top 5 artists I am looking forward to watching this seasons are:
1. Luke Kenny
After his astounding performance in the movie “Rock On” I bet Luke Kenny has made a place in your heart when in comes to Indi-rock. He is also a well known VJ, musician and actor from Mumbai. Today he will be performing a set of Bollywood songs with a rock-n-roll twist, something I feel we all need to look out for.
2. Alien Chutney
Alien Chutney is India’s premiere comedy-rock band consists of Vir Das, Sidd Coutto, Gaurav Gupta, Warren Mendonsa and Kaizad Gherda. Brain child of Comedian Vir Das, Alien Chutney is a mix of sophisticated original music with insane and retarded lyrics. Its completely rabid and yet entirely relatable, unexpected and yet familiar. Punch lines meets riffs as music gets funny with the band’s original compositions on a range of subjects, from the difference between Delhi and Bombay girls, a blues song about village men, a punk song about funkalicious pakodas, parsi love songs, tributes to himesh, death metal songs, pop songs, fusion jazz tracks call jezzy jezzy, to the key to good love with your sabziwalli.
3. Karsh Kale
Karsh Kale is an Indian American musician, producer and composer, and is considered one of the pioneering figures in defining the Asian Underground genre by mixing disparate genres of music such as Indian classical and folk with electronica, rock, pop and ambient music. In addition to production, remixing, and DJ work, Kale is known for his tabla drumming and film composition.
4. Clinton Cerejo
Clinton Cerejo is an Indian music producer and singer. His range of work includes playback singing, vocal arrangements, musical arrangements, background scores, music programming, production. His unique style and musical enthusiasm has attracted various collaborations with many leading Indian composers.
5. Ayushmann Khurrana
Ayushmann Khurrana needs no introduction, this heartthrob is a well-known singer and actor. With songs like Mitti Di Khushboo, Yahin Hoon Main, Saadi Galli Aaja (To name a few) he is one of my personal favourites and really happy that Pepe Jeans India got him on board this season! Ladies (and gentlemen) his performance is something that I bet everyone who is attending KGAF this year wouldn’t want to miss.
I will be available on 7th (Today) and from 11th to 14th of February at Kala Ghoda for the Music festival and hope to see you all too!
